Honey Bee Venom and SMART-BEE Collection Technology

Bee Venom and SMART-BEE Collection Technology What is honey bee venom? Honey bee venom (apitoxin, Apis mellifera venom) is a colorless, acidic liquid and contains pharmacologically important constituents. The important constituents present in bee venom are melittin, apamin, hyaluronidase, phospholipase, and histamine. Melittin is considered to be the major constituent of bee venom. The venom is produced in the abdomen of worker bees from a mixture of acidic and basic secretions. Newborn bees do not sting. Venom synthesis begins after two or three days, while the maximal production rate is reached when bees are two to three weeks old. Older worker bees produce less venom. When collecting, the bees leave it in a liquid state on the collecting panel. It’s a colorless, acidic liquid. After drying, it is a white powder (if protected from oxidation). If it is not protected, oxidation will change the color from white to brownish-yellow. Changes caused by the oxidation of certain components of the venom may decrease its healing effect. Uses and value of bee venom As a branch of apitherapy, bee venom therapy is used by some as a treatment for rheumatism and joint diseases due to its anticoagulant and anti-inflammatory properties. The bee venom is used for the treatment of rheumatic diseases, multiple sclerosis, rheumatic fever, high blood pressure, sciatica, psoriasis, hematomas, various skin conditions, and burns, among others. New research shows that nanoparticles carrying a toxin found in bee venom are capable of destroying HIV cells while leaving others intact. It is also increasingly used in the cosmetic and pharmaceutical industries in the form of creams and serums. Bee venom (apitoxin) is produced in many countries, mainly in Eastern Europe, Southeast Asia, and the Americas, and is the most expensive bee product. SMART-BEE bee venom collectors SMART-BEE is a beekeeping electronic device used to collect bee venom (apitoxin). We have been on the market for ten years, and together with our customers, we collect the highest-quality bee venom with maximum yields from different continents. By continuously improving and testing our devices, we strive to make them even smarter. Our bee venom collection kits consist of two main parts: a collector and the collection panels where bees release venom. The key features of our devices include automatic operation, low power consumption, and the ability to be powered by a built-in high-capacity battery or various portable USB sources (depending on the type of collector). Each device can also serve multiple panels simultaneously—every panel connected to the device functions as a separate bee venom collector, significantly reducing the total time required for collection. In addition to our existing devices, we now offer a mobile unit that integrates all essential components within a single panel, including the device and a rechargeable battery. This innovation enhances portability and convenience, making the collection process even more efficient and user-friendly. Flexible power and durable panels With a built-in battery or 5 VDC input voltage that you can get from any USB source (even solar), this device makes it unique and easy to use. Power the collector with mobile chargers, power banks, solar panels, batteries, laptops…or just charge it and go to the apiary. Discover our durable and eco-friendly SMART-BEE panels designed for efficient collection of bee venom. Crafted from premium food-grade plastic and reinforced with stainless steel wire, these panels ensure prolonged durability, promising extended periods of use without compromise. Bee-friendly collection Our device is bee-friendly, and the collection process is harmless to them. A bee that stings into a soft surface (e.g., the skin) cannot pull its stinger out. Attempts to do so result in severe injuries to the bee and its death. However, when the bee stings a hard surface (in our case, glass in the collecting panel), the stinger doesn’t get caught, and the bee won’t get hurt, as it can pull it out easily. For you, we designed and built the most efficient bee venom collector in the world. Collecting bee venom using our devices is very easy. You can use it as a beginner or a professional, as it does not require any adjustment, with excellent results tested in practice. Depending on your needs, you can choose a model and start collecting bee venom. View SMART-BEE Collectors

SMARTBEE COLLECTION TECHNOLOGY

A controlled way to collect bee venom

SMARTBEE systems use collector panels placed at the hive entrance or inside the hive. Carefully controlled electrical impulses encourage bees to sting the glass surface, where the venom dries and can later be collected.

Designed for repeatable field work

From compact entry-level kits to multi-panel professional systems, each model is designed to provide stable operation, practical controls and a collection process that does not require killing the bees.

01

Bee-safe collection

Bees sting a glass collection surface and retain their stinger.

02

Collector panels

Choose a model and panel configuration that matches your apiary.

03

Controlled operation

Purpose-built timing and output control for consistent collection sessions.

HOW TO COLLECT

How does a Bee Venom Collector work?

The collector activates a specially designed glass panel with controlled electrical impulses.

When bees contact the panel, the impulse encourages them to sting the glass. The venom remains on the glass and dries, while the bees keep their stingers and return to normal activity. After the collection session, the dried venom can be carefully scraped from the clean glass surface.

1

Place the panel

Position the collector panel at the hive entrance or according to the selected setup.

2

Run the session

Connect the panel and start a controlled collection cycle with the SMARTBEE device.

3

Collect the venom

Allow the venom to dry, then carefully remove it from the glass using appropriate protection.
